Our work builds on past achievements and recognises emerging challenges and opportunities. The directions outlined below are steps in a process of strengthening youth mentoring in Victoria.
Strategic Goals
1) To provide leadership and advocate for quality youth mentoring across Victoria
• Establish the VYMA as the recognised peak body for mentoring in Victoria
• Advocate for the needs of Victorian youth mentoring programs
• Raise the profile of youth mentoring across the broader community and media
2) To build the capacity of members to ensure best practice across Victoria
• Provide access to non financial resources to strengthen quality mentoring practice
• Coordinate Regional Coordination Projects so as to enhance their effectiveness
3) To develop an evidence base to inform the promotion and advocacy of quality youth mentoring
• Develop and disseminate a Victoria specific evidence base
• Assist in the development of a national research strategy
4) To ensure the ongoing efficiency and sustainability of the VYMA
• Build the financial capacity of the organisation
• Ensure that the organisation is meeting its regulatory compliance, legal and fiscal responsibilities
• Strengthen the governance structure to ensure the successful recruitment and retention of Board members
• Maintain and expand the VYMA membership base
