A Handbook for Organisations working with Young People

The Taking Young People Seriously handbooks, produced in 2004, are a series of resources exploring young people's participation in their communities. They were developed by the Youth Affairs Council and the Office for Youth, Department for Victorian Communities as the product of a partnership project called Participation in Practice.

Diverse Communities

Report to the National Youth Affairs Research Scheme (NYARS)

The report focuses on how mentoring practices and policies in Australia can best meet the needs of young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, with a focus on young people from the Horn of Africa.

 

Recruiting and Supporting Volunteers from CALD backgrounds 2008

Training Manual

As part of the Commonwealth's CALD Implementation Project, the State Volunteer Centres have assisted the Australian Multicultural Foundation, Judith Miralles & Associates, and Volunteering Australia with developing a Training Program and Manual to help not-for-profits with recruiting and supporting volunteers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Trainers are encouraged to customise and add to the material to meet the needs of each client organiastion.
